The five new patients, they said, were asymptomatic, and have been transferred to the city’s designated isolation center.

“(The patients) were transferred from Barangay Mantuyong to the Mandaue City Central Quarantine Facility (Mandaue City Central School) late last night. All five of them were asymptomatic but were transferred to the facility due to the close proximity of households in the barangay,” the PIO stated.

“The patients will stay in the quarantine facility until they are deemed recovered after testing negative of the virus,” they added.

According to the PIO, the patients from Barangay Mantuyong  – a 20-year-old female, a 19-year-old female, a 55-year-old male, and a 30-year-old – reside in Zone 6, Sitio Asinan while the village’s 5th new patient is a 41-year-old from Zone 4.

Barangay Mantuyong, which has a population of over 6,500 based on the 2015 census of the Philippine Statistics Authority, is situated a few meters behind the Mandaue City Public Market.

Sitio Asinan has been placed under lockdown since May 6, when it recorded its first COVID-19 patient. It affected more than 15 households within the sitio or subvillage.
