Hike teachers pay—Act

By: Michelle Joy L. Padayhag June 01,2014 - 10:08 AM

Members of the Alliance of Concerned Teachers (Act) will wear black armbands tomorrow as they again call for a salary increase and more benefits for teachers and non-teaching personnel.

Teachers are  paid P618 a day instead of the ideal which is  P1,085 a day to be able to support a family of four,  said Bernabe Sabejon, ACT-7 vice president.

The teachers union is calling on government to increase their salary from P18,000 a month to P25,000 a month, and to give  more benefits like a  higher allowance (chalk, productivity, and clothing), and rice subsidy.
