CEBU CITY, Philippines — Short on manpower and having their office moved to another building, the policemen of the Cordova Police Station are coping and adjusting to the changes in the past week.

This was what Police Lieutenant Jan Ace Layug, Cordova Police Station chief, and his  remaining 24 healthy policemen were doing after four of the 28 policemen were found positive of the coronavirus disease 2019 last week.

Layug said losing four of his men in the stretch of the self quarantine of the four policemen would mean the healthy policemen would have to cover for the duties of the four policemen on self isolation at the police station.

“All the rest were having their regular duties… medyo naglisod mi but we are adjusting,” said Layug.

And we have also moved from the police station to a vacant adjacent building owned by municipal government where we now hold office, he said.

Those who would file their complaints or who would want a police clearance could do their business in this building,  he said.

He described the move as another precaution so that his remaining policemen would not be infected with the virus.

He also said that no one had been allowed to enter the police station where the four policemen were isolated in one of the rooms there.

The four policemen were isolated in the police station after the results of the rapid tests they undertook turned out that four of them were infected with the virus.

Layug said that the four policemen had already been swabbed a confirmatory test but they had yet to receive the results of those swab tests.

Despite this, he assured that they were capable of handling their duties and police operations as well even if they were short on manpower.

“We assure that we will continue with our operations and regular duties,” said Layug./dbs
