One died and two others were injured in a collision between a tricycle and a Toyota Hilux at barangay Tan-awan, Oslob, southern Cebu at past 6 a.m yesterday.

The 79-year old tricycle driver Maximo Ondiano was declared dead on arrival at Oslob District Hospital while passengers Liza Lirasan and a 15-year old fourth year high school student were brought to Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC) for serious injuries.

Police said the two vehicles were both going north when Ondiano failed to signal the vehicle that he was going to left turn causing the Hilux to lose control .

In a phone interview, PO1 Carmelito Dacula of the Oslob police said the students were headed to Tan-awan National High School when the incident happened.

“The boy (Librada) rode on the back while the girl (Larasan) was on the front portion of the tricycle,” Dacula said.

The 28-year-old Toyota Hilux driver named Krista Llamas was headed to Cebu City from the neighboring island of Dumaguete to follow up on a weekly check-up of a relative. Llamas is now under custody of the Oslob police pending the filing of charges.
