A police officer was invited for questioning at the Cebu Provincial Police Office headquarters because of his presence in the house of a suspected drug pusher in Borbon town who was the subject of a buy bust operation of the elements of the Provincial Intelligence Branch yesterday afternoon.

P02 Bernardino Almeda of Borbon police was in the house of Edwin “Jongjong” Cabahug when PIB men in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) 7 conducted a buy bust operation.

Also invited was Mirafe Mendoza, Cabahug’s live-in partner of 13 years.
Cabahug, however, eluded arrest.

Confiscated from the suspect’s house were different sizes of packs of shabu with an estimated value of P50,000, disposable lighters, buy-bust money worth P500 and a digital weighing scale.

Police also arrested Zeev Tulod who was in Cabahug’s house on suspicion that he is a drug user.

Cabahug is considered to be a level two drug pusher who can dispose of 80 to 200 grams of shabu per week.

In an interview, Tulod confessed that it was only his second time to use drugs when he was arrested yesterday.

Mendoza, on the other hand, admitted that she knows about her partner’s illegal drug business but she does not involve herself in the transactions.

“I was in the other room watching TV when the police arrived. He (Cabahug) started his business early this year and I really tried convincing him to stop but he did not heed my request,” said teary-eyed Mendoza.

Cebu Provincial Police Officer Director Noel Gillamac personally talked to Almeda after the operation but the police director refused to divulge details on what they have discussed.

In barangay Looc, Danao City, elements of the PIB arrested Joseph Gonzales and Ralph Casiong and confiscated shabu worth P130,000 in another buy bust operation yesterday.

In an interview, Gonzales admitted that he started selling shabu early this year and Casiong is his assistant.

Senior Insp. Leo Logronio said Gonzales is a known drug pusher in the town and has been under surveillance for three weeks already.

He is allegedly a level three drug pusher who can dispose of 25 to 30 grams of shabu per week.

The suspects are now in the custody of the PIB pending filing of proper charges against them.
