Carmen loses COVID-free status, logs 4 new cases
CEBU CITY, Philippines — The Municipality of Carmen loses its coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) free status after the town logged 4 newly reported cases of the virus within this month.
Carmen Mayor Carlo Villamor said that last December, the town did not log any case of the virus.
Villamor said that some of these COVID-19 positive cases were being isolated at their isolation facility in the town’s gymnasium in Barangay Poblacion, while some were placed under home-quarantine.
Aside from this, a separate facility was also prepared by the town, for the 14-day isolation of Returning Overseas Filipinos (ROFs).
“Actually we have two. Sa grandstand sa ibabaw, duna sab ta’y usa didto. Naa man gu’y gipagawas nga directive nga katong mga returning overseas bisan ug mag-negative, ibutang gyud sila sa facility,” Villamor said.
(Actually, we have two (isolation facilities). There at the grandstand and somewhere up there we also have one there. This is because there is a directive that returning overseas (Filipinos) even if they have negative swab results should be placed in the facility.)
Currently, the cumulative cases of COVID-19 of the town are already at 128, with 116 recoveries and 8 cases of deaths./dbs
