2 Lapu RTC branches physically closed after employee test positive for COVID-19

MANDAUE CITY, Cebu – Two branches of the Regional Trial Court (TRC) in Lapu-Lapu City were ordered closed starting this Tuesday, February 2, and until February 12 after an employee of Branch 73 tested positive for the coronavirus disease.

“For the purpose of contact tracing, the said Branches shall adhere to the DOH Guidelines on Contact Tracing, Close contacts of the confirmed COVID-19 case shall undertake the necessary steps as issued by the DOH pursuant to OCA Circular No. 101-2020,” Executive Judge Joseph Stephen Ygnacio said in a Memorandum issued on February 1.

During the 11-day closure, Ygnacio is asking the public to reach personnel of the two branches through their designated email addresses and contacts numbers.

In his memorandum, Ygnacio said that the RTC Branch 73 employee who tested positive for COVID-19 last reported for work on January 29.

After consultation with Jenny Lind Aldecoa-Delorino of the Office of the Deputy Court Administrator, a decision was reached to order the physical closure of the two RTC branches.

Ygnacio said in his memorandum that personnel of the two branches share the court room of RTC Branch 54.

“The temporary closure of RTC branch 54 may however be lifted depending upon the result of the swab test (RT-PCR,” the memorandum reads.

On Monday, RTC Branch 86 in Mandaue City was also ordered  physically closed after a court employee tested positive for COVID-19.
