CEBU CITY, Philippines — Cebu and the entire Central Visayas will continue to experience fair weather up to Monday, March 22.

The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration in Mactan (Pagasa-Mactan) announced on Sunday, March 21 that Easterlies will prevail all over the country for the next 24 hours.

Easterlies are warm winds coming from the Pacific Ocean.

In its 1 p.m. weather bulletin on Sunday, Pagasa-Mactan weather specialist Jhomer Eclarino said no major weather system is affecting Central Visayas.

But Eclarin said the possibility of rain showers due to localized thunderstorms in the region remained.

The state weather bureau also issued an Extreme Caution Heat Index warning as they forecast that the Maximum Heat Index Temperature could reach up to 38 degrees Celsius starting Sunday.

“We advise the public to take precautions against the heat as prolonged exposure to this range of Heat Index could lead to heat cramps, heat exhaustion, and heat stroke,” said Eclarino in Cebuano.

Pagasa defines the Extreme Caution category of its Forecast Maximum Heat Index as the ‘human discomfort index that gives the apparent temperature or what humans perceive or feel as the temperature affecting their body’.

Pagasa also has not yet declared the start of the dry season for this year.
