Carreta drug bust yields P400K shabu

Police arrested a couple in a drug bust in barangay Carreta, Cebu City. About P400,000 worth of shabu was confiscated in the Monday operation.

Senior Insp. Eunil Avergonzado, chief of the Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Task Force of the Cebu City Police Office, identified the arrested suspects as Jerome Saballa, 40 and his wife, Nanie, 42 of barangay Guadalupe.

The couple was under surveillance for two weeks before the operation.

Police said a poseur-buyer who convinced the couple to do business with them agreed to meet in reta for the payoff.

Avergonzado said it was Nanie who dealt with the poseur buyer. She was immediately arrested after the payoff was made.

Aside from the plastic pack of shabu handed over , one more pack was recovered from Nanie’s possession. Two more plastic packs were allegedly recovered from Jerome.

The two refused to comment on their arrest.

Avergonzado said the two were classified as big-time drug pushers who could channel than 200 grams of shabu a week.

The couple are detained at the Mabolo Police Station pending the filing of appropriate charges against them.

In Liloan town, a 44-year-old man was arrested in another buy bust operation in sitio Suba, barangay Poblacion on Monday.

Rommel Tagalog was arrested after he allegedly sold a small plastic pack of shabu.
Police recovered the P200 marked money used in the sting operation.

Also seized from Tagalog;s possession were several packs of suspected shabu with a street value of P50,000, P1,750 cash, drug paraphernalia and a weighing scale.

Senior Insp. Rommel Murpoz, chief of police of Liloan town, said Tagalog’s name had been on their drug watchlist as a suspect who could dispose of three big plastic packs of shabu a day.
