Police arrest ‘wanted man’

A 72-year-old man who was wanted since 2009 in Mindanao for allegedly killing a member of the now defunct Philippine Constabulary (PC) was arrested in Cebu Wednesday night.

Wilfredo Jumawan was arrested in the house of his daughter in barangay Pakigne, Minglanilla.

Judge Bernadette Paredes Encenareal of Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 36 in Calamaba, Misamis Occidental issued the warrant for his arrest.

Jumawan is accused of shooting to death Flacsido Yamuta, said Inspector Delfin Bontuyan, one of the arresting officers.

According to Bontuyan, the suspect told them he killed Yamuta because he was cruel.

Police traced Jumawan’s whereabouts by checking on his relatives in Cebu. Jumawan o was number 22 in the list of wanted persons in Misamis.
