MANDAUE CITY, Cebu — More than 76,000 Talisay City residents have already received their share of the COVID-19 vaccines.

Mayor Gerald Anthony Gullas said that they were hoping to reach more with the opening of more vaccination sites in the coming weeks.

Talisay City, a third class component city in Cebu, has a population of over 260,000.

Gullas said that as of Friday, August 20, a total of 76,099 already received their jabs.

“As we open more vaccination sites in the coming weeks, we are hoping to attract more people, especially those who are eligible, to get vaccinated as soon as possible,” Gullas said.

While he encourage Talisaynons to have themselves vaccinated, Gullas also continues to campaign for the observance of health protocols to prevent the spread of the infection.

“To tell you the truth, we are still combating this pandemic very carefully. Bisag nagsaka ang atong mga vaccinated persons, nisaka sad ang atong mga kaso ug fatalities,” he said.

And “even if you don’t get vaccinated because you’re not eligible for the vaccine, you can still protect your family and yourself by strictly following protocols,” he said.

These include the wearing of face masks and face shields, avoiding crowded places, constant disinfection, and proper hygiene.

“Ikaw ra gyud ang mismong solusyon sa pagpugong sa Covid-19 sa inyong individual houses,” he said.
