DSWD-7 launches Bata Balik Eskwela Campaign
LAPU-LAPU CITY, Philippines — The Department of Social Welfare and Development in Central Visayas (DSWD-7) has launched their Bata Balik Eskwela Campaign to encourage pantawid monitored children to enroll for the school year 2021-2022.
The Pantawid Pamilya’s Bata Balik Eskwela campaign aims to remind the children beneficiaries to enroll back in school so that they will fully utilize the program’s benefits.
This campaign also seeks to inculcate in the minds of the children the importance and value of education in their lives and future.
The Pantawid Pamilya children are one of the stakeholders of the program and are responsible for complying with one of the main conditions of 4Ps, which is to attend school every school year.
“Ato gayud ning gihimo kada tuig hilabi na kung hapit na ang atong ting-abli sa eskwela,” said Emmalyn Morada said, the family development session (FDS) focal person of DSWD-7
(We do this every year especially when the opening of classes draws near.)
“Ato kanunay giawhag atong mga pantawid beneficiaries nga motungha gayud kanunay sa mga tunghaan o sa ilang modules,”
said Morada.
She also said that the campaign also encouraged not attending school (NAS) children, such as dropouts and out-of-school youths.
“Tungod kay naay tay mga natala nga mga bata nga niundang sa miaging tuig, like nag-dropout, or kaning non-compliant, diha nato gisubaybay ang atong Bata Balik Eskwela Campaign,” Morada said.
(Because we have children listed who stopped schooling in the past year, like they dropped out, or those who are non compliant, that is where we focus our Bata Balik Eskwela Campaign.)
Pantawid monitored children are required to comply with the 85 percent attendance to school. Currently, DSWD-7 has 455,844 pantawid monitored children.
Based on their monitoring, 98.5 percent of the pantawid monitored children were compliant with the 85 percent attendance.
Part of the DSWD intervention is the house visitation to 4Ps families whose children failed to attend classes in the previous school year.
During the home visit, the Pantawid City and Municipal Link would talk to the parents and their children to identify issues and barriers that prevent them from attending school and complying with the condition on education.
Once issues are identified, the Pantawid worker would discuss them with the concerned partner-beneficiary especially the child.
It is hoped that through this effort, children are motivated to continue going to school and comply with the agreements reached during the home visit.
Through the program, the DSWD has given these poor children and their families a chance at a better future so they must continue and finish their education.
