CEBU CITY, Philippines — Cebu City is targeting to inoculate 58,000 individuals for the three-day National Vaccination Days on February 10 to 12, 2022.

Doctor Jeffrey Ibones, the head of the City Health Department (CHD), said they have identified 40 vaccination sites including the jail facilities in Barangay Kalunasan for the said days.

“All set na ta. We are praying nga successful lang atong National Vaccination Days Round 3. Sa BJMP (Bureau of Jail of Management and Penology) nag add pud ta didto for the booster,” said Ibones on February 9, 2022.

The public can go to the sites registered or not to get their first dose, second dose, or booster shots.

The CHD expects that there will be more booster shots to be inoculated for the National Vax Days since the majority of Cebu City’s adult population is already vaccinated.

The city has fully vaccinated over 700,000 adults, but only administered around 50,000 booster shots.

In the previous National Vaccination Days on December 2021, the city was awarded as one of the local government units (LGU) that have inoculated most individuals under the program.

Ibones said the target is lower because the focus is on booster shots, but the city is hopeful that the program will be just as successful as the last.

The Cebu Medical Society, Philippine Pediatric Society, hospitals, and non-government organizations have volunteered their doctors, nurses, and other medical staff for the vaccination drive.

Volunteers come from all parts of Cebu Province as well.

The New Oasis for Adaptation and a Home (NOAH) Complex at the South Road Properties (SRP) will also accept drive-through vaccination.

At least three sites are available for minors aged 12 to 17 years old at the SM Seaside, Robinsons Cybergate, and Cebu City Sports Center (CCSC).

Minors who will get vaccinated must be accompanied by a fully vaccinated parent or authorized guardian.

Ibones said they expect more minors in the sites because the majority of the minor population is yet to be vaccinated.

The adults are encouraged to get booster shots for increased immunity against COVID-19.

Walk-ins will be allowed in all sites during the National Vax Days.

The city government is set to release the sites for the vaccination today.     /rcg
