Fire victims of sitios Abellana, Sto. Nino and Sta. Cruz said they found no problem with Cebu City Hall’s decision to reblock their area.

The 265 displaced families are staying at the Barrio Luz Elementary School, chapel and inside the barangay’s compound. The families move to the gym at night when there are classes.

Acting Barrio Luz barangay chairman Jerome Pagador said he was assured by the City Council that the settlers would return to their area. He said the fire site is being cleared prior to reblocking.

“The DWUP (Division on the Welfare of the Urban Poor) will explain to the residents about the reblocking,” Pagador said. He said the reblocking will make the three sitios accessible to firefighters.

Last week’s fires burned down 128 houses and displaced 265 families or 1,032 persons.
