Two robbers who posed as customers ran off with P40,000 in cash and valuables from a Western Union outlet in Rodrigo Duterte Street, sitio San Roque in Banawa, barangay Guadalupe, Cebu City at 12:57 p.m. yesterday.
Chief Insp. Allan Rosario, Guadalupe police precinct chief, said the robbers also stole bags containing cell phones, an undetermined amount of cash and other personal items from two female Western Union workers.
Rosario said the outlet had no security guard. While Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama issued notices to 79 courier and money transfer outlets warning them to hire security guards lest they be closed, Western Union wasn’t included in the list.
The notices were issued following a spate of robberies that hit the LBC outlet. The LBC outlets recently hired security guards and upgraded their security cameras.
