CEBU CITY, Philippines — Cebu City continued to distribute the stimulus economic package beyond the 10-calendar-day schedule from May 13 to 26, 2022.

Beneficiaries who were not able to claim their stimulus will be able to claim their financial aid as the program under the Cebu Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) will continue to distribute in the next few days.

Economic Stimulus Program Team Leader Gerard Joe Binghay Carillo said Mayor Michael Rama wants all the aid to be distributed to the beneficiaries completely.

With this, their office will complete the distribution as soon as possible through contacting the beneficiary and scheduling a release to the beneficiary.

“Nagcoordinate mi sa City Treasurer’s Office (CTO), and padayon mi sa pagdistribute. Nahitabo man gud, right after sa election ban, gipadouble time ni Mayor Rama ang pagpanghatag sa ayuda. So gipamobilize tanang departments sa City Hall. Karon, kami nalang sa Disaster ang naghatag,” said Carillo.

For now, the release is being conducted at the Cebu City Sports Center (CCSC), but release in the barangay level may be an option that the Disaster Office can arrange for some beneficiaries, especially those barangays that still have many stimulus cash aid yet unclaimed.

City Treasurer Mare Vae Reyes had initially warned beneficiaries that if they cannot claim their assistance by May 26, their assistance will be returned to the city’s coffers and possibly forfeited. These included the Odette financial aid, TUPAD, TAPAT, other benficiaries, and the stimulus.

Carillo clarified that they continue to distribute the stimulus economic package until all beneficiaries get the P5,000 assistance dedicated to various sectors.

The beneficiaries of the P5,000 stimulus are business owners in the agricultural sector, transportation sector, business sector, informal sectors, and others who are in need of capital.

Such examples are sari-sari store owners who will get P5,000 capital grant to sustain their small enterprise.

So far, 10,800 beneficiaries have been given the stimulus in 2022 all over the city.
