DILG asked to junk admin case vs. cebu City officials

By: Jose Santino S. Bunachita October 31,2014 - 08:37 AM

The Cebu City government has renewed its call for the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG-7) to dismiss the administrative case filed by Lawyer Reymelio Delute against elected city officials.

They also want the DILG-7 to strike out Delute’s comment to impose preventive suspension against Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama and Vice Mayor Edgardo Labella for releasing P20,000 calamity assistance to its employees after the two calamities last year and exclude the other respondents.

“The aforementioned Prayer of Complainant for the preventive suspension of Mayor Rama and Vice Mayor Labella to the exclusion of the other respondents in the instant case runs contrary to complainant’s very own allegations in his complaint-affidavit in the instant case dated April 22, 2014,” they added.

In his original complaint, Delute also asked for the preventive suspension of 12 other city councilors aside from Rama and Labella.

But in their reply last October 15, after the first hearing of the case, Delute only asked for Rama and Labella’s suspension.
