A man jailed on rape charges accused members of the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team in the City of Naga for mauling him yesterday.

Louie Arma, lawyer for rape suspect Gregorio Umandog, said his client may consider filing charges against the police officers.

He said a medical certificate showed Umandong sustained bruises on the left part of his chest and abdomen. Umandong claimed that his private part were electrocuted.

Cebu Daily News tried but was unable to contact Supt. Brendo Nacario, City of Naga police chief, to air his side on the incident.

“My client told me that men who wore SWAT uniforms were the ones responsible of mauling,” Arma said.

He said he was told by the police officers that bystanders mauled Umandong after they arrested him in barangay Alpaco, City of Naga last Nov. 2.

Umandog was arrested at dawn during a benefit dance in the area. The victim reported the incident to the police.
