Mandaue garbageResidents near Guizo Barangay Hall in Mandaue City finally heaved a sigh of relief after tons of uncollected garbage dumped in the area were finally hauled to the city’s sanitary landfill last Tuesday.

Jesus Neri Jr., barangay chairman, said they immediately cleared the area after their garbage truck was repaired.

Around 8 p.m. Tuesday, Neri with barangay workers took the garbage to the landfill.

Residents and motorists earlier complained of the foul smell from the uncollected garbage which were mostly plastic items.

Guizo’s garbage truck was under repair for the past weeks after it fell on its side while dumping garbage in the landfill.

One of the residents, Zam Mendoza said he is happy with the development.

The collection of garbage will be back to its regular schedule.
