OLANGO ISLAND, Lapu-Lapu City – This early, Mandaue City officials have already started their preparations for 2023.

On Thursday, members of the City Council and Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) staff gathered for a strategic planning workshop in Tabulena town, in northern Cebu.

Vice Mayor Glenn Bercede said the workshop was in line with the city’s Performance Governance System, a tool that is used to monitor the city government’s performance.

During the gathering, participants were asked to identify their plans and goals for 2023.  They were also asked to brainstorm on how they can further help the city government and improve the delivery of services to Mandauehanons.

Mandaue City dreams of becoming a resilient city by 2027.

Bercede said a technical working group will soon be created to monitor and evaluate the performance of each of the City Hall departments.

Mayor Jonas Cortes said in a previous interview said that constant monitoring and coordination, with the help of the city’s Performance Governance System, will make sure that what their employees do are aligned with the city’s visions and plans.

This would also ensure that employees work efficiently and effectively to maximize human resources at City Hall, Cortes added.

Genee Nuñez, head of the Office of Strategy Management, told CDN Digital in a recent interview that the use of the Performance Governance System will also help the city get feedback from stakeholders.

The initiative which Mayor Cortes started was first implemented at City Hall from 2012 to and 2018, she added.
