CEBU CITY, Philippines — Police already turned over to a dormitory an Indian national who was rescued after hurting himself  outside a convenience store in Barangay Banilad, Cebu City, at around 6:30 a.m on Tuesday, September 27, 2022.

Police Major Erano Regidor, chief of Mabolo Police Station, said that Rakesh, 25, the victim, is currently residing in a dormitory of the said barangay.

Regidor added that the person in charge of this dormitory will be the one who will relay this incident to the victim’s family.

Based on their initial investigation, Regidor said that they learned that Rakesh is allegedly suffering from ‘depression.’ He allegedly wanted to get the attention of his family in India after he found out that his family there is having a financial problem.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Janette Rafter, deputy city director for operations of the Cebu City Police Office, said that the store owner did not pursue filing a complaint against the victim.

“Wala nalang pod nireklamo ang establishment nga iyang na perwisyo earlier kay known pod ni siya nga suki sa ilaha. Nagpatabang lang ang establishment sa sa station 4 kay naay to siya’y problema,”  Rafter said.

(The establishment didn’t file a complaint because he was a regular customer there. They just asked for help from Station 4 because they knew he had a problem.)
