Technical glitches mar Pasigarbo 2023
CEBU CITY, Philippines — The Pasigarbo sa Sugbo 2023 on Sunday, August 27, went peacefully but apparently not smoothly.
While no untoward incidents occurred during the event, which was held in Carcar City Sports Complex (CCSC), a series of technical glitches interrupted performances of several contingents during the Ritual Showdown.
These developments even prompted Cebu Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia to address the public, and called out the provincial government’s supplier on sounds and light four times.
All interruptions in the Ritual Showdown stemmed from errors in audio playback where the audio accompaniment would stop midway during performances.
Some contingents, like the Panagtagbo Festival from Mandaue City, had to restart their performance from the top. Mandaue City’s delegation got interrupted twice.
Other contingents whose performances got interrupted included Toledo City, Santa Fe, Alegria, and Madridejos.
In her first address, Garcia asked the judges to ‘disregard all of the technical boo-boos’ in rating the performances of contingents affected by the glitches.
The governor also assured participants that there was ‘no foul play.’
A total of 50 contingents participated in this year’s Pasigarbo which, for the first time, was held outside of its usual venue at the Cebu City Sports Complex (CCSC).
