ARQ Builders demolish Mitsubishi Motors in MPBA Season 2

CEBU CITY, Philippines — The ARQ Builders went straight back to business after bagging their first win in the Mandaue’s Pride Basketball Association (MPBA) Season 2: Cebuano Cup where they demolished Mitsubishi Motors, 95-50, on Sunday evening at the Cebu Port Authority (CPA) gymnasium.

ARQ Builders, the overall first-runners-up of the inaugural season, displayed their winning intent by leading by as many as 45 poits, 95-50, in the final period.

40 fastbreaks for ARQ Builders

They bested Mitsubishi Motors in virtually all aspects of the game. They had 40 points from fastbreaks.

Their bench impressively contributed 42 points and they converted 26 points from turnovers. 

Five of ARQ’s players scored double digits with John Elmer Villabriele leading his team with a double-double game of 18 points and 10 rebounds.

His teammate Niel Earvin Minoza added 14, while Christopher Obeso and Mariano Arriesgado each had 11 markers. Jojo Arano chipped in 10 points. 

Mitsubishi’s Shawn Tejam and Kobe Cole scored 12 and 11 points, apiece, in their losing efforts.

TBLB routs WJV-HP

Meanwhile, newcomer Team Banilad Luigi Bercede (TBLB) also had a dominating start in their campaign after beating WJV-HP, 84-58. 

Franjel Omolon paced TBLB with 12 points. TBLB led as many as 30 points, 80-50, en route to claiming their first win. 

Nelson Caballero was WJV’s lone double-digit scorer with 14 points.

HomeSourced bury Outlaws

On the other hand, HomeSourced outplayed the Outlaws, 80-51, behind Francis Labay’s 19 points.

James Villafuerte and Jade Digal contributed 12 and 11 points, respectively. 

Mark Cuadra had 17 points in Outlaws’ losing efforts. 

HomeSourced led as many as 31 points, 78-47 in the final period after enduring five lead changes.

M-Tech outlast Boss Machiato 

Lastly, M-Tech edged Boss Macchiato 80-73.

Christian Jumamoy and Roy Yap worked together for M-Tech’s win by scoring 19 points each. 

Arfiel Manigbas added 13 and Andy Eyas with 10 points in their convincing win. 

Paul Munes spoiled his 18-point outing for the losing squad, so did Raymond Villas’ 14 and Kennie Monte De Ramos and Michael Dysam 12 points each.
