Water delivery driver in Bohol nabbed for illegal drugs
CEBU CITY, Philippines – A water delivery driver will be spending time in jail after he was caught by authorities with around P374,000 worth of suspected shabu during a buy-bust operation in Tagbilaran City, Bohol on Monday evening, September 11, 2023.
The alleged suspect was identified as 38-year-old Roger Niluag, a water delivery driver, and a resident of Barangay Taloto, Tagbilaran City, Bohol.
Niluag was apprehended by the side of the road during a buy-bust operation in Upper Sto. Niño, Barangay Dao at around 11:11 p.m.
Leia Alcantara, spokesperson of Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Central Visayas (PDEA-7), described Niluag as a newly identified drug personality in the province.
She also said that based on their investigation, Niluag has been operating as an alleged drug pusher for two to three months and can dispose 15-25 grams of drugs per week.
Alcantara also said that the investigation showed that his work as water delivery driver has no connection to his alleged illegal activities.
Operatives seized from the alleged suspect eleven packs of suspected shabu weighing around 55 grams. The confiscated illegal drugs had an estimated market value of P374,000.
Also confiscated during the operation were a cellphone and other nondrug evidence.
The prices of drug evidence have been submitted for chemical analysis, said PDEA-7.
The buy-bust was a joint operation by combined elements of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Bohol Provincial Office, Philippine National Police (PNP) Bohol Maritime Police Station (MARPSTA), Naval Forces Central (NAVFORCEN), and Tagbilaran City Police Station.
According to Alcantara, information about the alleged suspect was given by a confidential informant and that a one month case buildup was conducted.
She stated that Niluag is detained at the Tagbilaran City Police Station pending for the filing of appropriate charges against him.
He will be facing charges of possession and selling of illegal drugs.
Alcantara added that the investigation to find and arrest the alleged suspect’s supplier of illegal drugs is ongoing.
