Jealousy drives husband to stab, wound wife in Moalboal

CEBU CITY, Philippines — A woman from Moalboal is in critical condition after her husband stabbed her out of jealousy on Monday evening, September 18.
Police in Moalboal identified the victim as Rebecca Temblor. The 56-year-old Temblor sustained multiple stab wounds in different parts of her body.
The suspect, her husband Wilfredo, is currently detained at Moalboal Police Station.

Jealousy motive in attack
Investigators believed jealousy might have motivated Wilfredo, 57, to do the crime.
Based on their initial findings, the husband had accused his wife of adultery. He also claimed that he saw multiple kiss marks on her body.
Wilfredo also reportedly told police that he had been receiving insults from his wife, describing him as ‘wa nay silbi’ (he has no use) and ‘way kapuslanan’ (he is no longer of value).

Attempted parricide charges
In the meantime, the suspect said he would be ready to face the charges that would be filed against him.
Police Major Etelberto Timagos, Moalboal Police Station chief, for his part, said that they would file attempted parricide charges against the suspect.
Timagos said that the six grown children of the victim and the suspect would not like to file charges against the suspect, their father.
However, the police chief said that the wife, whom they had spoken to at the hospital, told them that she would pursue the filing of case against her husband.
Moalboal is a fourth-class town located in the southwestern portion of Cebu province.
Lapu-Lapu inmate stabbed 30 times due to jealousy
Earlier on Monday, September 18, 2023, another stabbing due to jealousy happened. This time the stabbing attack happened at the Lapu-Lapu City Jail where an inmate, stabbed another inmate 30 times in the body after he found out that this fellow inmate had been calling his wife on the phone.
The Lapu-Lapu City Jail investigator said that the motive for the attack was most likely jealousy.
The wounded inmate was rushed to the hospital for treatment.
Jail Officer (JO)1 Dennis Balabat of the Lapu-Lapu City Jail identified the victim as Dennis Dumael, an inmate at the jail facility and facing a rape charge.
Balabat also identified the suspect in the stabbing attack as Darwel Tero.
