PRO-7: Those who bring minors to martial law anniversary protests will be arrested

The Central Visayas police reminded members of the different militant groups in Cebu to exclude young children if they were planning to hold protests for the anniversary of the declaration of martial law today.

In line with this, police warned Cebu-based civil society groups about using children while holding demonstrations to commemorate the 51st anniversary of Martial Law.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Gerard Ace Pelare, the spokesperson of the regional police office, said that the police would not hesitate to arrest and file charges against individuals who would include minors in their rallies.

On September 7, 2023, some minors were observed to be present during a rally held at a mall in Barangay Lahug, Cebu City when protesters called for the abolition of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict.

Survey: Central Visayas among top regions for ‘sugar babies’

Central Visayas is among the top regions in the Philippines with the most number of ‘sugar babies’, a study from a dating platform revealed.

Malaysia-based online dating service Sugarbook, in its Gifts, Allowances, and Arrangements report, showed that Central Visayas is among the Top 5 Sugar Baby and Sugar Daddy Regions in the Philippines.

Out of the 200,000 users it has in the Philippines, Sugarbook identified 22,665 ‘sugar babies’ and 8,452 ‘sugar daddies’ from Central Visayas.

Metro Manila topped the list, with 144,462 sugar babies and 33,749 sugar daddies. It was followed by Calabarazon and Central Luzon in that order. Northern Mindanao rounded up the top five regions.

Cancer cells can be automatically detected by AI-powered microscope

In science and technology, an artificial intelligence (AI)-powered microscope created by the US Department of Defense and Google is said to be able to detect cancer cells automatically.

The AI microscope is called the Augmented Reality Microscope, or ARM. It outlines cancer cells using a bright green line and its artificial intelligence systems estimate a cancer’s severity and generate a monochrome heat map on the monitor to show its boundaries.

Imagine the implications of having a microscope that detects microscopic organisms and objects automatically. Previously, you’d have to take minuscule samples and drag your microscope slide carefully to find them.

Once the ARM enters consumer markets, it could reduce hospital workloads and improve healthcare worldwide.
