CEBU CITY, Philippines — Following the temporary road closure of a portion of Osmeña Boulevard from October 2 to 22, 2023, the Traffic Management Committee (TMC) head in Cebu City is asking for the public’s understanding and suggesting some ways to beat the traffic jams caused by the closure.

In a statement sent by TMC Head Councilor Rey Gealon to CDN Digital, he said he appeals and begs for understanding and patience to the public affected by the traffic adjustments.

“This is indispensable for the expeditious completion of the BRT project,” Gealon said of the closures.

“Surely, there will be an adverse effect on your routinary schedule of activities, be it school, work, business or anything else, on account of the detour which would consequently delay your arrival to your respective destinations,” Gealon added.

The TMC head said that the vehicular traffic flow in the affected areas in the city is expected to be slow.

This is why he made this suggestion: “I suggest that waking up early to travel earlier than usual is the best way to beat the peak hour traffic in the morning.”

Gealon also assured that there will be additional traffic enforcers to be deployed on field to manage the traffic flow.

“Concentration of our mobile personnel will be there as well,” he added.

The temporary road closures were imposed in the city as part of the ongoing construction of the dedicated lanes for the Bus Rapid Transit.
