Vancere Toys nails first win

BATCH ’87/2000S-Vancere Toys recovered from a slow start, sinking Batch 2006-1st ACY Shipping Corp./Cebu Regal Pension House, 53-51,  to finally taste its first win in the Cebu Eastern College Alumni Basketball Association (Cecaba) 14th Dr. Chen Lieh Fu Memorial Cup last Tuesday at the CEC Gym.

Tallying its first win after starting the tournament with four straight defeats, Batch ’87/2000s got off to a sloppy start, allowing Batch 2006 to race to a 20-10 lead.

Batch ’87/2000s charged back into the game outscoring its opponent in the middle quarter, 29-20, before sealing the much-needed win with a 14-11 run the final stanza.

Alfie Miranda Sy led the charge for the winning team with 21 points, while Harold James Tan contributed 11 points and eight rebounds.

Gino Abella scored 17 points and Jermaine Nuñez added 12 for Batch 2006, which dropped to 1-4 (win-loss).

In the other game, Joseph James Yu fired 24 points, Donald Anthony Ting scattered 23 as Batch 1995-La Nueva Pharmacy nailed its fourth win in five games via a 72-64 beating of Batch 1988-Dewfoam.
