Atera Builders lead north conference of MPBA Season 2

CEBU CITY, Philippines — Artera Builders stretched their winning streak to four games while remaining unbeaten after winning against Void, 86-72, in the Mandaue’s Pride Basketball Association (MPBA) Season 2: Cebuano Cup on Sunday, October 22.

Artera Builders is now the solo leader among the 10 teams vying in the northern conference of the competition held at the Cebu Port Authority (CPA) gymnasium.

Four of Artera Builders’ players headed by Romar Ponce registered double-digit outing in their win. 

Ponce scored 20 points, while Jhoeyanz Bustos had a double-double game of 18 points and 13 rebounds, while Dennis Dela Cerna added 15, and Marin Anabieza had 12 markers. 

Ren Ren Sasan spoiled his 23-point game for Void which absorbed its second loss in three games.

Meanwhile, Agalons Garbage Haulers improved to a 3-0 (win-loss) record in the southern conference after routing Quadernos, 104-85, behind James Ferraren’s 22 point game. 

Renren Arsenal had a double-double outing for the Agalons with 17 points and 11 boards. 

Their teammates in Jiji Baguio, Mariano Maglasang, Mamel Larrobis, and Junel Montejo chipped in 16, 14, 13, and 10 points, respectively. 

On the other hand, MPBA Season 1 champs, Truck N’ Trail grabbed their second win in three games after thrashing Boss Macchiato, 101-86 in the northern conference. 

Baruk Ceniza unloaded 21 points to lead Truck N’ Trail. Albert Ardiente chipped in 14 points, while EJ Conahap and Ranel Cortes added 11 points apiece. 

Boss Macchiatos’ Kenny Monte De Ramos had 19 points in their defeat as their team dropped to a 1-2 slate in the standings.

Lastly, Prayboys now have a 2-1 card after winning over Monterroyo Logistics, Inc., 96-71. 

Yorit Varga scored 22 points, while Danillo Contado had 21 points for Prayboys.  

Ramon Singson and Miguel Perez scored 24 and 22 points, respectively, for the losing squad.
