AJL Surplus gets back on track in Cecaba

BATCH 1990S/2001- AJL Surplus rebounded from a sorry two-point loss last week after it nipped Batch 1980s/‘90s/2011-Koi Herbal, 79-67, last Saturday in the Cebu Eastern College Alumni Basketball Association (Cecaba) 14th Dr. Chen Lieh Fu Memorial Cup at the CEC Gym.
As usual, Paul Martin Gabatan played big for Batch 1990s/2001, carrying the team to its fifth win in seven game by firing 32 points while also finishing with three assists and two rebounds.
Peter dela Torre chipped in 12 points, while Emerson Go, Ryan Racal, Marlon Lao and Tommy Yu added a combined 30 points as Batch 1990s/2001 bounced back from a 60-62 loss to Batch 2007-Chef Chang.
John Avalon scored 18 points, Franklin Tan had 16, Stephen Tan wound up with 15 and Joel Chan had nine points and 11 rebounds for Batch 1980s/‘90s/2011, which slipped to 5-2 (win-loss).
In the second game, Batch 1987/2000-Vancere Toys pocketed just its second win in seven starts via an 88-77 trashing of Batch 2005-Headway Motorcycle Hub.
Harold James Tan spearheaded Batch 1987/2000 with 27 points and 10 rebounds, Alfie Miranda Sy contributed 21 points, while Joseph Baluyos and Barry Jefferson Climaco donated 15 and 14, respectively.
Philip Lua scattered 19 points, Nikko Tiu produced 15 points, Kenneth Ang netted 15, Kent Uy and Don Cadorna scored 13 apiece for Batch 2005, which slumped to its sixth defeat against a solitary win.
