Rama stands firm: Sinulog 2024 still in SRP

Despite varying opinions from mayors in different Cebu municipalities about the Sinulog 2024 venue, Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama stands firm in his decision.

He continues to favor holding the Sinulog grand parade at the South Road Properties (SRP).

When asked for his response while currently in Australia, Rama affirmed, “I’ve said it, and it stands,” referring to his decision in favor of SRP.

Marcos approves service recognition incentive, gratuity pay for government employees

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.  approved administrative orders (AOs) that will grant government employees service recognition incentive (SRI) and gratuity pay for the fiscal year 2023.

AO Numbers 12 and 13 were signed on December 7, 2023 and posted on the Official Gazette on Tuesday, December 12.

Under AO Number 12, employees in the executive branch of government are entitled to a one-time SRI of P20,000, the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) said in a statement.

Probe underway to determine if fire in Mingla trial court was intentional

Investigations are currently ongoing to determine if the fire that burned down a trial court and several government offices in Minglanilla town in southern Cebu on Tuesday, December 12, was intentional or not.

Minglanilla Mayor Rajiv Enad on Tuesday instructed fire officials, as well as local police, to probe the blaze that hit a two-storey building owned by the municipal government around 12 p.m. on Tuesday.

Enad, in a statement, said they received initial information that the fire might have been “premeditated and deliberately set off inside the Municipal Trial Court.”

Cebu City to strictly implement curfew on minors for holiday season

A few days before the start of Misa de Gallo and gathering activities for the holiday season, authorities in Cebu City are gearing up for the security of the public.

Cebu City Councilor Phillip Zafra, council’s chairperson of the Committee on Peace and Order, said that the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO), together with the city government, was making sure that security measures for Misa de Gallo and other activities within Cebu City were already put in place.
