All passengers of a motorboat that capsizes off Danao City-Camotes island route were rescued late night, Sunday.

The passengers and the skipper were spotted by the crew of MV Wonderful Stars of Roble Shipping Lines headed to Ormoc City clinging on the capsized motorboat said Rodolfo Villajuan, acting PCG Cebu station commander. He said they also sent aluminum boat in Danao City waters after they received a call from a citizen about the incident.

The rescued passengers were brought to Ormoc City in Leyte and will be transported back to Cebu later today.

Villajuan said the seacraft is small and undocumented. It was on its way to Danao City when it was battered by strong waves about 8 p.m. and then capsized before it could reach the mainland.

He said their office had reminded small seacraft operators not to ply their craft at night since only large vessels are capable of navigating the waves in the evening.

Jay Dagatan, operations chief of the Danao City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office, said relatives of the passengers went to their office to verify the reports.

He said based on what they gathered so far, the passengers attended a team building activity in Camotes Island and rented a fishing boat after failing to make it to their scheduled trip.
