LPA to enter PAR on Saturday but no significant effect for Metro Cebu
CEBU CITY, Philippines — The low-pressure area (LPA), which has been potted at 1,865 kilometers east of southeastern Mindanao at 3 a.m. on Thursday, has a low chance of developing into a typhoon, according to Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration stationed in Mactan (Pagasa-Mactan).
“Low chance nga mahimo siyang bagyo pero expected nato sa Saturday, makasud na siya sa PAR (Philippine Area of Responsibility) as low-pressure area,” Engineer Al Quiblat said, chief of Pagasa-Mactan.

(There is a low chance that it will become a typhoon but it is expected on Saturday that it can enter the PAR (Philippine Area of Responsibility) as a low-pressure area.)
Quiblat said that the direction of LPA on Sunday, December 17, would get closer to the eastern portion of Visayas and Mindanao, so the public should expect a rainy season on Sunday in those areas.
Pagasa said that partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms continue to affect the Visayas region due to the Easterlies.
“So far, sa Central Visayas, for the next three days, wala pa siya’y (LPA) significant [effect] pa, so magcontinuous monitoring lang ta for naa nyay mga significant changes,” he said.

So far, in Central Visayas, for the next three days, it (LPA) still has no significant [effect], so for now, we are at continuous monitoring for significant changes.)
Quiblat added that as of Thursday, they had not seen any significant effect of the LPA to Central Visayas for the next three days.
“Sa Metro Cebu, for the next three days hangtud sa Dominggo, wa pa syay significant effect,” he added.
(In Metro Cebu, for the next three days until Sunday, it still has no significant effect.)

Quiblat urged the public to monitor Pagasa updates regularly for the possible changes of the weather condition because it could change from time to time.
