Flame It! Burger will hold a running event on May 17 dubbed Burger Run.

The race is held in line with the celebration of Flame It! Burger’s 13th anniversary on May 18. The starting line will be at the SM City Cebu car park.

As expected, organizers will give free mini burgers for runners participating in the 13-kilometer division. The burgers will be available at the turning point of the 13k race.

The other distances offered are  6k and 3k.

The running event serves as a charity event for Flame It! Burger as part of the proceeds will be given to the pupils of the barangay Guba elementary school and the Department of Social Welfare and Services home for the women.

Tessa Bañez, Flame It! Burgers’ marketing director, and owner Ella Villacin, decided to make the race more exciting by adding a group category and making the 3k distance an obstacle race, in which even pet dogs can join.

“This is one way to show our gratitude to the Cebuanos who love our burgers,” Bañez said.

Villacin happens to be an avid runner, which is the reason they chose to stage a running event to celebrate their anniversary.

Meanwhile, reigning marathon queen Mary Joy Tabal will spearhead the pre-race activities.

She will be heading a pre-run warm up and also to give tips on running.

The race actually also serves as a culminating activity for the grassroots running program headed by Tabal and John Philip Dueñas in partnership with the Cebu City Sports Commission for the children of barangay Guba.

Registration is set to kick off on April 27 at all Flame It! Burgers outlets in Cebu.

Registration fee is P500 for the 13k, P400 for the 6k and P300 for the 3k. The group category has a fee of P2,000.

A 50 percent discount will be given to one who can present a P500 receipt from Flame It! Burgers upon registration.
