UC School of Medicine to open this year

With a roster of experienced faculty members and a newly-opened medical center with complete range of healthcare facilities, the University of Cebu (UC) Banilad Campus proudly announces the opening of its School of Medicine in June this year, providing quality medical and healthcare education to aspiring doctors in Cebu.

During a presscon on March 30, UC School of Medicine dean Dr. Ma. Melfer Montoya affirmed that after making the necessary preparations, the school is now ready to rise up to the challenge of producing topnotchers in the medical field. “We have a good line-up of medical professors who are training doctors for a long time now and have experienced working with the different hospitals in Cebu. We also have complete sets of medical facilities to fully equip our students and complement the theories they will learn from their interactive lectures”.

The University of Cebu Medical Center (UC Med), the university’s tertiary hospital which was inaugurated yesterday, will be the school’s residency training center.

UC School of Medicine will follow the Outcome-Based Education mandated by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) which engages students in active learning.

UC also offers scholarships and book allowances for applicants who are top laureates upon finishing their four-year pre-medicine courses. Summa Cum Laude and board topnotcher applicants will be awarded with 100% tuition fee discount with P20, 000 book allowance while Magna Cum Laude applicants will have a 75% tuition fee discount with P10, 000 book allowance. Cum Laude applicants can enjoy a 50% tuition fee discount and P10, 000 book allowance.
