Lola Amour releases debut album after 8 years

The “Raining in Manila” band proudly talks about the evolution of their music with the release of their self-titled album at a press conference held in Lyf Cebu City last April 27, 2024.

With an initial plan of 10 songs, Lola Amour underwent a lengthy process of putting their debut album together as they started to record the tracklist in 2019, continuing even as the pandemic struck globally.

Main vocalist, Pio Dumayas, revealed that “Fallen” was originally meant to be in the album, but was instead released earlier as they had to cope with the delays brought by Covid-19. Meanwhile, the popular hit “Raining in Manila” gained so much traction, they had to shift focus from finalizing their album.

Due to the prolonged process of development, the growth of the band could be distinguished throughout the 9 songs in the album being in the works from 2019 to 2023. They described the album to be a compilation of inspirations, with deeper and more mature music for fans to enjoy.

Going international is one for the books

When asked about their recent performance with Coldplay, the band admitted to it being an overwhelming experience as they were aware that the audience came for Coldplay. This became the primary reason for the band to feel nervous backstage.

However, the undying support of Filipinos as they got on stage melted the heart of the members. Collaboration with more artists in the future is definitely one of their goals, in hopes to go international without neglecting working with local and national artists.

Cebu is top venue choice

Admittedly, the heartwarming and welcoming energy of Cebuanos contributed to the city being chosen as venue for the album release.

“We know we have a lot of fans here,” Pio stated, revealing that tickets in the city sold out in a jiff.

Draft Punk Café reminded them of the venue they perform in in Manila called 123 Block, making it a familiar set up for the band.

“The stage is not far from the audience. You can feel the energy from them, you can be a bit more loose,” Band pianist, David Yuhico added.

Fans screamed and jumped in glee as Lola Amour performed their new songs and hit singles throughout the evening.
