Cebu: Cold weather and thunderstorms expected
CEBU CITY, Philippines – Residents of Metro Cebu experienced cooler weather on Wednesday, June 19, as rain showers swept across the area.
The regional weather bureau issued Thunderstorm Advisory No. 8 on Wednesday, alerting residents of Metro Cebu and the rest of the province to the expected weather conditions.
The advisory indicates light to moderate rain showers, occasionally heavy, accompanied by lightning and strong winds.
Residents are also advised to stay alert and take the necessary precautions during this inclement weather.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) Visayas Regional Services Division reported that rain showers with an intensity of 2.5 to 4.5 liters per square meter per hour, occasionally reaching 7.5 to 15 liters per square meter per hour, are expected due to thunderstorms.

These conditions are anticipated to develop and possibly extend to nearby areas within the next one to two hours.

The weather condition will affect numerous cities and municipalities, including Toledo City, Pinamungahan, Naga City, San Fernando, parts of Carcar, Aloguinsan, parts of Barili, Asturias, Balamban, Bantayan, Bogo City, Borbon, Carmen, Catmon, Cebu City, Compostela, Consolacion, Cordova, Daanbantayan, Danao City, Lapu-Lapu City, Liloan, Madridejos, Mandaue City, Medellin, Pilar, Poro, San Francisco, San Remigio, Santa Fe, Sogod, Tabogon, Tabuelan, Tuburan, Tudela, Talisay City, and Minglanilla.

Engineer Al Quiblat, the chief of Pagasa-Mactan, confirmed that Cebu would experience scattered rain showers due to thunderstorms.

However, he reassured Metro Cebu residents that there are no low-pressure areas (LPAs) inside or outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) at this time.
Still, Quiblat said Cebuanos are advised to take necessary precautions against potential hazards such as flash floods and landslides.
