A 16-YEAR-OLD boy is facing trial for allegedly driving a motorcycle without a license and ramming the car of a lawyer.

Ben (not his real name) was charged before the Regional Trial Court in Cebu City last Wednesday.

He was earlier indicted by the Cebu City Prosecutors’ Office on charges of reckless imprudence resulting to damage to property.

In his affidavit, lawyer Elias Espinosa said he was driving his KIA Carens with plate number YFU 404 along Rosal Street in Cebu City on Nov. 6, 2012 when he heard a loud bang at the rear side of his vehicle.

Espinosa went out of his car and saw Ben lying on the road.

Ben allegedly drove his motorcycle in high speed before it hit Espinosa’s car.

Espinosa said he found out that Ben had no license to drive a motorcycle since the latter was still a minor at the time of the incident.

The lawyer appealed to Ben and his father to pay him P43,494 which was  the amount he spent for the repairs on his car.

Espinosa said Ben’s father pleaded for mercy, prompting him to lower the amount to  P25,000.

Espinosa agreed. However, Ben’s father did not fulfill the agreement, and hasn’t been answering his calls and text messages, prompting Espinosa to file a case against the boy.
