The Arcanys Early Learning Foundation and the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc.’s Dolores Aboitiz Children’s Fund (RAFI-DACF) jointly conducted a

Math Olympics for the beneficiaries of their “District transformation through parent coaching” project last month in barangay Pasil, Cebu City.

The Math Olympics was conducted to assess the beneficiaries knowledge at the end of the program.

Under the program, the Arcanys teachers visited the houses of the beneficiaries to teach them mathematics, specifically rote counting, number recognition, object identification, numerical magnitude, missing number and simple addition.

The parents also participated in the program.

DACF grants officer Jan Montilla said the parents underwent a parenting education session on the techniques of  proper tutoring of their children.

After the session, the parents were made to interact with their children while the teachers observed them.

DACF grants officer Jan Montilla said “The project aims to teach the young children early mathematical skills. It also aims to develop the parents’ ability to teach their children,” she said.

The Math Olympics also featured fun games and other activities.
