Close to 50 teachers in Central Visayas asked the Department of Education (Deped-7) yesterday afternoon to release their incentives equivalent to a one-month salary.

Antonia Lim, regional president of the Alliance of Concerned Teachers-Region 7 Union said Executive Order 181, which was released last May 2015, provides that the Productivity Enhancement Incentive (PEI) for government employees should be released not earlier than June 2, 2015.

“We asked DepEd regional director Juliet Jeruta about it and she said by Tuesday next week it will be downloaded to us,” she said.

Lim said that last Friday, they asked the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) 7 why the release of the PEI was delayed and they were told that DBM Central Office is yet to give a go signal for it.

The cash section of DepEd 7 revealed that they already received the amount of P1.049 billion yesterday morning and they have started downloading the amount to the teachers through their bank accounts.
