THE Cebu City Agriculture Department (CAD), in coordination with the Philippine Carabao Center and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), will distribute carabaos to city farmers.
City Agriculturist Joelito Baclayon said a total of 500 carabaos will be distributed to the farmers in the 14 mountain barangays.
Baclayon said beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) of the DSWD will be given priority to receive carabaos.
“Ang DSWD ang nag-identify sa 4Ps members nga anaa sa 14 mountain barangays,” he said.
These mountain barangays are Bonbon, Sudlon 1, Sudlon 2, Tagbao, Adlaon, Tabonan, Taptap, Pung-ol Sibugay, Paril, Lusaran, Cambinocot, Boot, Binaliw and Agsungot.
He said this is a big help to the farmers of the city. “Ang goal nga maka-start na ta og disperse sa 500 carabaos this month until the end of this year,” he said.
He also said the Cebu City government will not spend for the carabaos as this is a program of DSWD under the national government.
