CEBU City Mayor Michael Rama is the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) chairman of Cebu City.
Rama said it’s his “automatic” position, but the recently launched opposition party has yet to come up with final designations for the party’s allies all over the country.
As such, Rama is Vice President Jejomar Binay’s pointman in the city.
“What was being told to me is the chairmanship of Cebu City. It’s automatic. But I was asking them for documentation. I want to know already. Number two, the need for a headquarters in Cebu. Number three, they have to clarify what is my real designation. It can’t be that we do a launching and then after, nothing happens,” said Rama.
He said he didn’t know yet if he will be given another position in the party and he’s not sure if he will also serve as the provincial chairman for Cebu since UNA still doesn’t have an official candidate for Cebu governor.
Before being officially accredited as a party, Rama said he was already appointed UNA’s regional coordinator.
He said the party will be holding regional launchings. No details were given.
Asked about his role in Binay’s campaign for the presidency in 2016, Rama said he was preparing for battle — planning and implementing plans.
During the launching of UNA in Manila last July 1, it was Rama who introduced Binay on stage.
He said Binay wass the “most prepared” candidate for president and has the heart for service and for the youth.
