By: Christine Estrella, Norman V. Mendoza January 06,2014 - 01:43 PM

TWO construction workers were shot dead in barangay Daang-Lungsod, Toledo City, Cebu last Saturday past midnight.

Police identified the fatalities as Mark Dalisay, 19, and Jeffrey Omandac, 21.

The two were shot while sleeping in a hut, police said.

The victims were taken to the Toledo City District Hospital where they were declared dead.

Personal grudges could be the motive in the attack, police said.

A 27-YEAR-OLD gasoline station attendant was arrested Thursday for allegedly abducting two girls, including a minor, in barangay Tayud, Consolacion town, northern Cebu last December 30.

The minor narrated to the police that she went out with her friend on the evening of December 30 when a red van stopped and two men forced them inside the vehicle.

Rhea (not her real name) said Dames Sadaya and an unidentified companion separated her from her friend, an 18-year-old girl who is still missing.

She was taken to an abandoned house where she was hogtied and raped.

PO3 Arthur Ariate said the victim was held captive for four days without food. She escaped on January 2 by destroying a portion of the ceiling when Sadaya went out of the house.

The victim was able to ask for help and she was taken to the barangay hall.

Sadaya, who went out looking for the girl, was arrested.

Sadaya works at a gasoline station in barangay Tayud, Consolacion. He claimed the minor is his girlfriend, a claim that the girl denied.

Police said the victim knew Sadaya because he used to visit her house to ask her out.

The victim said Sadaya’s companion was tall, had a fair complexion and tattoos on his arm.

A 69-YEAR-OLD woman was found dead at the shore of barangay Suba-basbas, Lapu-Lapu City yesterday morning.

Luminada Monsanto was found outside a hut by a neighbor who was in the area to gather seashells.

Police the woman, the neighbor and five children were foraging along the shore to gather seashells.

Later, Monsanto complained of leg cramps. The neighbor, Elsisie Quines, 45, brought Monsanto to a hut so she could rest.

Quines went back to the shore, leaving her neighbor behind.

Quines and the children later returned to the nipa hut where they found Monsanto unconscious.

Quines sought help from barangay tanods, who then brought the woman to the Lapu-Lapu City Hospital where she was declared dead.

Police said there were no signs of foul play in the death.

An autopsy will be made to determine the cause of death, police said.
