Rep. Ferdinand Martin Romualdez of Leyte’s 1st district met with Cebu City and Consolacion town barangay officials yesterday as he prepares to run for a seat in the Senate.
He thanked Cebuanos for helping Leyte province after it was devastated by supertyphoon Yolanda two years ago.
“I thank all of you for your concern,” said Romualdez, adding that he was aware of the sacrifices and efforts of Cebuanos to send assistance to Leyte.
Romualdez met with some of Cebu’s barangay officials in the New White Gold House in Cebu City.
In a talk with reporters, he said he decided to run for higher office.
“It’s about time for the Visayas to have a senator who will push for a bigger budget allocation for the region,” he said.
Romualdez, on his last term as congressman, heas the Lakas-CMD. He said they are open to joining forces with parties like the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) of Vice President Jejomar Binay.
