Cebu Landmasters rebound, sink Bayfront in Shaaba
The Cebu Landmasters bounced back from their harrowing loss last time and blasted the Bayfront Hotel, 64-52, in Division A of the 20th Sacred Heart Ateneo Alumni Basketball Athletic Association (SHAABAA) on Sunday at the Ateneo de Cebu campus.
The win allowed the Landmasters to even their win-loss record out at 2-2, good for third place behind the unbeaten Petron Goldberry, the RDAK Stallions and the Gaisano Capital, who also earned a 64-40 rout of the Filmon Prince Medallion for its third win in four outings.
Jet Wahing topscored for the Landmasters with 17 points while Daryl Tan added 12 markers.
Nino Araw-Araw, a stalwart from last year’s Cesafi-title winning Magis Eagles squad, led Gaisano Capital’s balanced attack with 10 points. Five others scored at least six points to help Gaisano Capital to a share of second place with the Stallions at 3-1.
Filmon Prince Medallion and Bayfront plummeted to identical records of 1-3.
Petron Goldberry got their fourth win in as many games via default over Chick@Phil Basic.
In Division B, Dynamic Power continued to lord over the rest of the field as they pocketed their fourth win in a row with a convincing 67-44 rout of the Filmon Finishing Studio. White Gold Club barged into the winning column with a 55-50 thriller over Caltex Delo.
