Tremendous work ethic pays off for NBA MVP

Manila – Stephen Curry has not only built a name for himself for his otherworldly basketball skills but also for his uncanny humility.

Which is ironic given his unwavering confidence in himself, one rooted from hours and hours of focused training and preparation.

“My confidence is built on my preparation. The amount of time that I spend on my craft allows me to be prepared for whatever situation. I rely on my work ethic a lot to prepare myself for whatever may come my way,” shared the popular NBA MVP during the press conference of the Manila stop of Under Armour Roadshow.

Curry hinted of a shooting routine that requires him to make 400 jumpers or even more in a training session.

“It’s about repetition and how much you put into it every day. No matter how much I’ve achieved I feel like there’s always something more to attain,” added Curry, the hunger palpable in his tone.

Pressed for a blueprint that enabled him to become a league MVP and an NBA champion from such humble beginnings, Curry said that it all started within and the challenge to rule one’s self.

“You gotta practice and challenege yourself every day. Challenge yourself to believe in yourself. A heart and a mind that believes you’re gonna be successful no matter what.”

“You might fail a couple of times and that’s okay. That’s going to make you stronger along the way,” says Curry before leaving to attend a mini-camp over at the Mall of Asia Arena.
