Traffic office wants settlers out of two roads

By: Jose Santino S. Bunachita September 07,2015 - 10:46 AM

THE Cebu City Transportation Office (CCTO) asked the City Legal Office to initiate the clearing of illegal settlers and structures on Cabantan and Kamagong roads.

“These roads can be used as alternate roads during peak hours instead of Juan  Luna Ave. or Gorordo Ave., respectively,” CCTO executive director Rey Gealon said.

He said motorists are discouraged from passing through these roads since they are crowded with settlers.

Gealon said Cabantan Road can be used as a diversion road instead of Pope John Paul II Ave. (formerly J. Luna Avenue) in heading to M.J. Cuenco Avenue.

He said it also allows motorists to go to the Panagdait area from Cardinal Rosales Ave.

Kamagong Road serves as an alternate road in going  to Escario St. from Gorordo Ave.

CCTO still has no data on the number of structures and settlers encroaching on the two city streets. The roads are filled with eateries, stores and houses.

If these are removed, Gealon said CCTO can enforce the No Stopping or No Overnight Parking in the area.
