Where are the Ouanos in the plans of the Liberal Party next year in Cebu’s 6th district?

Cebu Provincial Board (PB) Member Thaddeo Ouano who wants his daughter Emmarie “Lollipop”  Ouano-Dizon to run for Mandaue mayor, said he  awaits the decision of  Cebu Gov. Hilario Davide III , who heads the LP provincie chapter.

“As provincial head, that is his prerogative. We are  waiting for his decision,” said Ouano.

If the LP doesn’t choose him for reelection and his daughter,   “Lollipop” for Mandaue mayor, the father said they are open to options.

“Whatever decision comes, we will respect him (Davide). We have to move on. There are interested parties but again we will wait for the governor’s decision first,” he said.

Ouano said while they were not satisfied with the governor’s  answer for them to wait for the party’s decision, they will give Davide time to announce it.

On reports that Vice Gov. Agnes Magpale has endorsed Mandaue City Vice Mayor Glenn Bercede or Consolacion Councilor Julius Alegado for the PB’s  6th district.

“Wa ko kahibaw. Ang akong tuohan, direkta ra gyod na kang Gov. (I don’t know about that. I will only believe on the governor’s statement),” he said.

Ouano said he and his daughter talked to Davide in his office to ask him about LP’s decision for  the 6th district.

Councilor Dizon is said to be eyeing the mayoralty seat against Rep. Gabriel “Luigi” Quisumbing of Cebu’s 6th  district.

Mayor Jonas Cortes ends his last term in 2016 and has hinted of “swapping” places with Quisumbing: Cortes for  Congress and the younger Quisumbing for mayor of Mandaue.

Bercede said he “accepts the challenge” amid reports that  LP will field him for a PB seat in the 6th district.. While he can still run for vice mayor, he is still open to options.

Bercede said running for the PB seat will help keep unity within the local LP party since three partymates—City Councilors Editha Flores-Cabahug, Jose Jefferson Ceniza and Jimmy Lumapas—may compete for the post.
