The first ever “Forwarders Run” of the Crest Forwarders Inc. kicks off today with around a thousand runners set to answer the starting gun at the Sumilon Road inside the Cebu Business Park.
The running event is a fund-raising activity of Crest Forwarders for their employee, 26-year old Mary Anne Tigbao who needs a critical surgery to place back a portion of her skull that was removed to prevent her brain from further swelling when she met a horrible vehicular accident last June 14.
Tigbao, the company’s Customer Service Representative (CSR) supervisor was hit by a speeding motorcycle in front of her office in Mabolo. Doctors who attended to her discovered that her brain was swollen due to the impact and decided to open up her skull to relieve the swelling as well as to remove a clot inside Tigbao’s head.
The company shouldered Tigbao’s medical expenses and helped her recover fully from the accident. However, Tigbao needs to undergo another major surgery which is called Craniotomy and would need around P600,000.
The running event will feature three distance – three-kilometer, 6k and 12k that will be divided into two categories – the Open and Forwarders that will traverse Cebu Business Park. Winning runners from each of the three distances will receive cash prizes.
