More than 2,000 public school teachers celebrated the World Teachers’ Day with City Savings Bank last Oct. 3.
Various activities were organized by the bank’s 84 branches nationwide to honor the educators.
Bankers offered songs of appreciation and provided snacks as well as tokens such as bookmarks, button pins, personalized cupcakes, and canvas eco bags to the participants.
Participants included teachers from Carcar City and Balamban town in Cebu, municipalities of Dagohoy, Mabini, Alicia, Carlos P. Garcia and Talibon in Bohol, Catubig in Northern Samar and Davao City.
The teachers expressed pride in their profession along with messages of appreciation on dedication walls set up at the branches.
“Thank you for celebrating our day as teachers,” said Happy Janice Yamogan, a teacher from Bonifacio Elementary School, Catubig, Northern Samar.
Junnamae Lucena from F. Bangoy National High School in Davao City shared her experience that when she was confined in the hospital, her loan application was processed by her sister and father.
Her loan proceeds were personally delivered by the branch’s business head.
This year’s theme “My Teacher, My Hero” highlights the vital role of educators as drivers of change to deliver quality education and implement the K to 12 education reform.
“The revolution in education is a revolution that will change the country and bring about all of the dreams and hopes of our young people. If you want to transform our country, we need living heroes,” said Education Secretary Bro. Armin Luistro in his message to the teachers.
